Technical base on wheels

For the second year running, our Secondary Technical School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has been offering a unique project Technical base on wheels. This is an educational project which, over the course of four hours, helps children gain an insight into the world of technology. The programme is aimed at both boys and girls with an interest in technology or who are considering studying at schools specialising in these fields. In a single morning, we guide a group the size of a school class – that is, 20–30 pupils – through the programme. This insight into the world of mechanical and electrical engineering, at the end of which the pupils take home a product they have made themselves, is supported by ČEZ.

Polytechnic days

We offer a very popular project to primary schools Polytechnic Day. This is a programme lasting four lessons, which is most often attended by Year 8 pupils as part of their career guidance course. The class comes to our school and we divide them into individual stations, each with a practical focus, and all pupils take turns participating in them. You can choose from the combinations on offer or create your own programme.

Wiring up lighting circuits – options, Sheet metal bending, Vacuum experiments, Simple editing and video export.
Making a plexiglass salt shaker, The Basics of Cyber Security – Attacks and Defence (two-hour programmes).
Pneumatic mechanisms, Construction of a Mercury gearbox, Measurement of gravitational acceleration, Colour filters and light transmittance.
Assembling a flashing light or siren, measuring dimensions using a calliper – demonstrations of measurements using touch-trigger gauges, 3D modelling and 3D printing (two short sessions instead of one two-hour session).
Polishing minerals, Creating your own AI podcast on a given topic, Experiments with electrical circuits, PC anatomy.
Mining, Assembling a flashing light or siren, Basics of cyber security (two one-hour sessions instead of one two-hour session).

A trial period as an industrial worker

Our next project is a programme A trial period as an industrial worker, which is organised for 10–12 pupils who are seriously interested in studying at our school. The programme offers a full day of classroom-based learning. Pupils take part in both theoretical lessons and practical sessions in the school’s workshops. In addition, they choose one lesson based on their own preferences.

Lesson (10.45–11.30) – practical work – controlling an electric motor, measuring alternator output, photovoltaic power station, milling – visits during lessons.
