Work experience for pupils

Our school’s curriculum also includes work experience, which enables pupils to gain practical experience in a real-world working environment.

The classification of work experience is based on:

  • Act No. 561/2004 Coll. (the Education Act)
  • and Decree No. 13/2005 Coll. on secondary education

These legal provisions enable practical experience to form an integral part of the course.

The specific organisation, duration and content of the work placement are set out in school curriculum (School Educational Programme), which is based on the framework educational programme for the relevant subject area.

In our case, work experience is usually carried out in Years 2 and 3 in the form of a continuous block lasting 14 days.

Supervised practical training takes place:

  • v the fourteen-day deadline set by the school,
  • employers (company registration number) by mutual agreement between both parties (company and student),
    • The third party (the school) acts in a supervisory capacity and also draws up the contract in duplicate based on data provided by the pupil, see the form. One copy of the contract is given to the employer; the school keeps the other copy on file.
  • under the employer’s professional supervision,
  • among pupils up to the age of 18: 6 hours, over 18 years of age: 8 hours,
  • in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Practical outcome:

  • a form completed and confirmed by the employer Attendance and assessment of compulsory work experience, or a work diary from their practical training, in which the student describes in detail the work carried out each day.

In the event of illness or any other incident, The pupil makes up for the entire duration of the work experience placement during the summer holidays. If a student has not completed their work placement, cannot be assessed in the practical subject in the second term. The classification will be finalised once a record of completion of the full work placement has been submitted by the employer.

The aim of the pupils’ work experience is to link theoretical learning with practical experience and to prepare them for their future careers.
