Pupils of our school completed a professional internship „Nuclear Baccalaureate“ in Temelín

The „Nuclear Matriculation“ program is one of the long-standing popular educational activities of the CEZ Group and attracts talented students from all over the Czech Republic every year. Participants have a unique opportunity to see the real operation of a nuclear power plant and to get acquainted with the work of experts from the field.

During the intensive three-day program, our students were involved in a wide range of professional activities. They were mainly:

• lectures by specialists in the field of nuclear energy,
• introduction to the principles of operation of a nuclear reactor, primary and secondary circuit,
• an explanation of radiation protection and operational safety,
• excursions to selected parts of the plant, such as the training centre or the engine room,
• the opportunity to discuss directly with operational experts.

The culmination of the internship was a symbolic „Nuclear Baccalaureate“, i.e. the final test, after successful completion of which students received a certificate of participation. This document is not only an appreciation of their efforts, but can also be an asset for their future career direction in the energy sector. Richard Valík from 3.EE took 2nd place in the test.

In addition to new knowledge, graduates of the programme also take away valuable experience and motivation for further study in technical fields. In some cases, participation can also open the door to other CEZ activities, such as the university „Summer University“.
