The first day of the conference focused primarily on the latest developments in the world of software development, with an emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence and AI agents in programming. Among the most interesting presentations was a talk by Tomáš Herceg „AI agents without the hype – what works for me and what doesn’t“. It offered a practical and critical perspective on the possibilities of agent-based modelling, its actual benefits and its current limitations.
The following day saw the SQL Server Bootcamp 2026, which focused primarily on new features and technologies related to Microsoft SQL Server. David Gešvindr’s presentation was particularly informative „AI in Microsoft SQL Server“, which presented the possibilities for integrating language models into relational databases. The students were introduced, for example, to the technology vector search, which enables users to search for information based on semantic similarity.
A lecture provided a welcome change of pace to the programme „Retro gaming at Microsoft Fabric: DOOM, Pokémon and the limits of the platform“. She demonstrated the capabilities of the Microsoft Fabric platform through unconventional projects – including, amongst others, the legendary games DOOM (1993) and Pokémon Yellow. The talk thus clearly demonstrated that modern technology can be used not only for everyday work tasks, but also for creative experimentation and exploring the limits of what it can do.
Taking part in WUG Days 2026 and the SQL Server Bootcamp 2026 was a valuable opportunity for our students to expand their specialist knowledge, familiarise themselves with the latest technological trends and gain new insights that they can apply in their further studies and in their own work.
