Matriculation exams

The matriculation examination is divided into two parts - the common (state) part and the profile (school) part.

Registration of pupils for the matriculation examination

In order for a student to sit for the matriculation exam, it is essential that he/she has registered for the matriculation exam. The procedure and rules for registering for the MA are as follows.

  • Pupils shall not later than 15. 11. fill in an electronic form where they specify the subjects they will take for the final exam.
  • The school then transfers the choice of subjects to the CERMAT - CERTIS information system, from which it generates applications for the MZ for each registered pupil by name and the application form is handed over by the class teacher to 22. 11. No later than 30. 11. the pupil hands the checked and signed application form back to the school - to the class teacher. If the pupils request an adjustment of the conditions for the matriculation examination, they also hand in the 22. 11. the class teacher has a valid report from the school counselling centre - see below.

The pupil results portal is based on the principle of unambiguous registration and authentication of the pupil and his consent to the sending of the relevant results documents to his e-mail address.

To register on the student results portal, graduating students need the so-called authentication code VPŽ, which is part of the extract from the application form for the matriculation examination, which is handed over to them by the school principal after the closing date of registration for the relevant matriculation examination. The code is also indicated on the invitation to the written examinations of the common part of the matriculation examination. If a pupil does not have a copy of the application form for the matriculation examination or the invitation to the written examinations for the common part of the matriculation examination in his/her possession, he/she must contact the head teacher and ask to be given one of these documents.

Modifications to the conditions for the matriculation examination

Decree No.177/2009 Coll. defines in Section 1(c) pupils with a granted adaptation of the conditions for taking the matriculation examination (PUP MZ) and divides these pupils into four categories according to the type of educational needs and into groups 1 to 3 according to the degree of required adaptations.

The matriculation exam for pupils with PUP MZ differs in:

  • logging in to MZ;
  • adapting the conditions for the matriculation examination;
  • modification of the test scheme.

Applying for MZ for pupils with adapted conditions

  • Together with the application for the matriculation examination, the pupil submits to the school principal recommendations from the school counselling centrewhich contains information on the classification of the pupil in the relevant category and group of the accommodation granted for the MZ, a list of compensatory aids and a specification of any assistance, interpreting services or differences in the assessment of the written work and the oral examination.
  • Based on the recommendation, the school principal specifies the appropriate category and PUP MZ group from the recommendation for each pupil in the registration application. Pupils with PUP MZ cannot sit in common classrooms with pupils without PUP MZ during the examination due to different examination time limits. Recommendations may also imply a requirement for a separate classroom.

Adaptation of the conditions for the matriculation examination

  • These include, for example: increasing the time limit, placing pupils with PUP MZ in a separate classroom(s), the possibility of using individual compensatory aids, formally adapted examination documentation, the use of individual technology for writing down answers, the possibility of using the support of an assistant or the services of an interpreter, skipping listening for pupils with hearing impairments, etc. In no case does the adaptation of the conditions for the holding of the MoE include the waiving of certain parts of the examination, the 'making easier' of the examination or the omission of certain content. The adapted examinations test the same knowledge and skills as the unadapted examinations.
