Excursion to the observatory
We spent a large part of the morning of Friday 10 April 2026 in the observatory. We learned a lot of interesting information about the Universe, its history and constellations. At the beginning we talked about stars and constellations. We found out where to find them and what time of year we can see them. We learned about the constellations of the zodiac and that from Earth we can easily follow Venus as Evening Star or Morning Star depending on when we see it in the sky. After learning about the universe, we were shown a short film and then went into the auditorium where we were treated to a presentation about the origin and history of the universe. We discussed the universe from the big bang to today and learned a lot of information that we know about the universe thanks to better technology. The whole excursion was very interesting and informative.
Playing against AIDS
On April 13, 2026, our school again held entrance exams for secondary schools, so we went to an event called „Playing against HIV/AIDS“. The event was held at the Regional Health Station. At the station we had to divide into groups of five and take cards from the lady in charge on which we wrote the name of our group. Each group went to a different station where they competed in different ways. At one station we created a story, at another we identified types of contraceptives and at others there was a pantomime and condom threading. There were up to 20 points to be gained at each station, but by the end only two groups had the full score. Overall the event was very successful, beneficial and well organised. The lady organisers were very nice and clever. So thank you to the teachers for planning such an interesting event for us.
Library:
On 10 April and 13 April, our 1.ER class took part in excursions at the South Bohemian Library on the topic of artificial intelligence. Specifically, it was two 90-minute lectures, which discussed AI and its principles, advantages and disadvantages, as well as its practical use in various fields. The lectures were interactive and practical and were very beneficial and interesting for all of us. We had the opportunity to try out some of the tools ourselves and better understand how they work. Our classmates learned how to properly formulate inputs for chatbots, how to effectively use the tools associated with them and also learned how large language models (LLM) work. We also learned about the potential risks associated with AI, such as misuse or spreading misinformation. Overall, we found these lectures to be a beneficial experience that helped us better understand current technologies.
