From 18th to 23rd June we spent Science Week at Jaderka. The event was organized by the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of CTU. On Sunday we attended scientific lectures on e.g. thermonuclear fusion, game theory etc. Afterwards, the conquest of the Břehyard fortress took place, where we had to solve various mathematical, scientific and logical problems. The aim was to get to know the other participants and work together as a team.
On Monday, our morning started with work on our chosen mini-projects (Gesture recognition using NVIDIA Jetson nano - Majrich, Sojka; 2D and 3D graphics under the hood = scientific modelling in Blender - Beránková; Signal filtering with high noise - Kopeček). Then we listened to a lecture on scientific presentations for newcomers. Part of the evening program was the announcement of the results of the Fortress of the Shore competition, where we won beautiful prizes.
On Tuesday, work continued on the mini-projects: finalization, preparation of presentations and proceedings.
Wednesday morning we attended lectures in English on "Imagination decides everything" and "Introduction to science communication". In the afternoon, we went on excursions of our choice (Van de Graaff Accelerator Laboratory, ESCAPE-Light Air Traffic Control Simulator, Nanoscopy and Optical Characterization of Materials Laboratory), followed by a discussion party on various scientific topics.
On Thursday we had presentations of individual mini-projects and as evening entertainment we had Casino.
The presentations continued on Friday morning. At the end we listened to the speeches of the Dean and the organizers of the event.
