From 17th to 22nd April 2023, six pupils from class 2.EB had the opportunity to participate in the STEM Erasmus+ project in Zagreb, Croatia. And how do our pupils evaluate this foreign experience?
Radim Barták:
I really enjoyed my week in Croatia. The organization was well managed both from the Czech side and from the Croatian side. The prepared programme was balanced with free time, which I liked. Thanks to Erasmus I practiced my everyday and technical English. Our food and groceries were funded by the European Union and it was up to us where we went for dinner each day.
I was most interested in the tour of the Siemens and Končar plant, where we could see the production of transformers in practice. It was interesting to observe the production of transformers (from start to finish), which are used, for example, in the Czech Republic. I would also like to highlight the trip to Opatija, which came out just in time for the beautiful weather, and the visit to the Rijeka hydroelectric power plant, which was also very interesting.
Miroslav Sojka:
I enjoyed my stay in Croatia very much. The whole event was very well organized both from the Croatian side and from the side of the South Bohemian Chamber of Commerce (JHK). I liked the workshops, which were prepared in such a way that everyone could handle them, regardless of whether they are interested in the field. What I liked about the city tours was that we were accompanied by students from the nearby town of Dugo Selo, who gave us interesting information about the places. I liked the tour of the hydroelectric power plant in Rijeka and the Končar company the most, where I was surprised by their process of making transformers.
The whole stay was very beneficial for me, I improved my English and met new people from different countries. Finally, I would like to thank JHK for the opportunity to travel to Croatia and for their flawless organization.
Denis Majrich:
I really enjoyed my study stay in Croatia. Most of all I was interested in visiting the hydroelectric power plant in Rijeka. The tour of the Končar transformer company was also very beneficial. The sightseeing tours in the cities of Zagreb, Opatija and Varazdin were interesting, although many of the houses and monuments are still under reconstruction due to the earthquake. The partner school had a well-prepared program, we had the opportunity to communicate in English with students from several different countries. The organization of the whole week was very precise and smooth on the part of JHK, our teachers were very nice. The accommodation in the centre of Zagreb was nice and very well located in terms of accessibility, the meals were very good thanks to the free choice. The only thing I would have possibly appreciated more would have been if the organised programme had ended a little earlier at least on some days, as I wanted to visit the railway museum, but its opening hours ended earlier. Thank you very much for the opportunity to participate in the stay, to meet many new people and places.
