Sports and Tourism Course for classes 3.EA and 3.SB (29 May-2 June 2023)

In the period of oral exams, the third years of our school (this time classes 3.EA and 3.SB) traditionally participated in the cyclo-course. For this year and the following years, the form and name of the course changed to a sports and tourism course. In order to live up to the name of the course, cycling, hiking and water hiking were on the agenda.

A total of 46 pupils and four members of the teaching staff attended the course on the shores of Lake Lipno from 29 May to 2 June 2023. We started the course on Monday 29 May at 11:00 at the České Budějovice train station, where a reinforced train with a carriage for transporting bicycles was waiting for us. After arriving at the camp "Jezero", we had an initial training on C2 boats.

On the second day, we had to move by boat to the nearby Pěkná, where we started rafting the upper Vltava River. The pupils, accompanied by the teaching staff, were transported to their destination by train along the Nová Pec - Pěkná axis. After a roughly four-hour cruise across the first zone of the Šumava National Park (including a break for food), we arrived back at the camp. After dinner we made preparations for Wednesday's bike trip - we were trained on how to move on local roads and the principles of safety on them.

The third day was therefore marked by a day trip in the saddle of a bicycle. The pupils were divided into two performance groups. The first group headed towards Stožec, where they visited the Schwarzenberg Canal Museum on the way. The second group went on a journey around the entire Lipno dam. Except for a few punctures, both groups managed to reach their destination successfully.

The next day the plan was to climb to the highest point of Šumava. The pupils - equipped with packed lunches - set off towards Plešné jezero right after breakfast. All of them managed the difficult climb bravely and after a lunch break on the shore of Plešné jezero, a large group of pupils decided to continue the climb. The rest of the pupils slowly turned back to the way to the camp. The brave group directed their ascent from the right side of Lake Plešný to the monument of Adalbert Stifter and then to the top of Plechý. They were rewarded with a magnificent view and countless selfie photos. In the evening, we sat by the campfire and roasted marshmallows to the accompaniment of the accordion. We celebrated the International Children's Day together with this pleasant diversion.

On the last day of the course, the cycling enthusiasts went for a final short ride and for the rest of the pupils there were sports games on the beach using the local boathouse. A large group of cyclists set off right after breakfast and the rest of the participants moved on to the Linden beach. After lunch, the only last task was to clean up the camp and get ready to leave.

The third year sports and tourism course was held without any problems. We had booked the weather, so we were not surprised that we had sunny weather without a cloud for the whole stay. The food was excellent and the facilities throughout the camp were of a high standard. For this reason we have already booked the same conditions for next year for the third year.
