The course programme was varied and physically demanding. One of the main activities was training on C2-class boats, which culminated in a trip down the upper reaches of the Vltava. The students thus had the opportunity to practise not only the basics of boat handling, but also teamwork, navigation on the water and coping with situations in a natural environment.
The next part of the course was devoted to cycling. The all-day cycle trip took place in the Šumava border region and, depending on the route chosen, covered a distance of approximately 50 to 70 kilometres. This gave the students the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Šumava countryside whilst also testing their physical fitness and stamina.
The final activity was an all-day hike to Plechý, the highest peak in the Czech part of the Šumava Mountains. The route was over 25 kilometres long and was one of the most demanding parts of the entire course. The reward for our efforts was the views, the shared experience and the sense of having overcome a challenge.
We managed to complete all the planned activities in full, thanks in large part to the favourable weather that accompanied the students throughout the week. The course thus offered not only sporting challenges, but also opportunities to strengthen team spirit, foster cooperation and share experiences.
We hope that the pupils enjoyed the sports and outdoor activities course and that it provided a fitting conclusion to their course of study as part of the school’s physical education curriculum.
