Most of the students had already played the game before, and those who hadn’t underwent a brief training session. Laser tag is a non-contact, adrenaline-fuelled form of entertainment which, in some ways, resembles paintball or airsoft, but in this game, laser beams are used in a darkened arena featuring various effects.
Then everyone threw themselves into the action. The students played a total of two games, each followed by a break to review the results of the previous 15-minute session and to rest – although some chose to spend this time actively too, for example playing pool or taking a seat behind the wheel for a while.
On the way back, Class 3.S popped into a grocery shop and an ice-cream stall so the pupils could top up their energy levels. They then arrived back at school to get on with some essential classwork. It had been a bit of an action-packed day, very relaxed and, fortunately, short, as the temperature – both outside and inside – had started to rise alarmingly.
