Class 2S School Trip – Salzburg

The first stop on our trip was Red Bull’s Hangar 7 in Salzburg. Here, the students spent around 1½ hours touring the unique exhibition of technology. The Red Bull Racing Formula One cars attracted particular interest, as did the Alpha Jet aerobatic aircraft, the historic Douglas DC-6B, the BO105 helicopters and other aircraft from „The Flying Bulls“ fleet. The visit also included a little souvenir shopping.

At around 12.30, we travelled by bus to the Nonntal district, from where we began our walk up to Hohensalzburg Fortress. The climb was physically demanding, particularly due to the very warm weather, but all participants managed it successfully. After purchasing our tickets, we took part in both individual and group tours of the fortress, during which the students had the opportunity to learn about the history of this significant landmark and enjoy the beautiful views of Salzburg and the surrounding area.

After about 45 minutes, we began our descent into the historic city centre. The route took us past the Franciscan monastery to Mozart Square, from where we continued on to Mozart’s birthplace. We then crossed the River Salzach to the opposite bank and visited the Mirabell Gardens, where we had about an hour’s free time for refreshments and to explore the area at our own pace.

Once the programme had finished, we walked back to the Nonntal district, where we were due to be picked up by bus. At 5.00 pm, we set off on our return journey to České Budějovice, where we arrived shortly after 8.00 pm.

The trip went smoothly, in a very pleasant atmosphere, and provided the students not only with new insights into history and technology, but also with shared experiences outside the school environment.
