Preparing for EuroSkills: students took part in a mechatronics training course in Ostrava

In the very first week of term, our students Filip Adamec (3.ER) and Lukáš Zdychynec (4.ER) travelled to Ostrava, where they undertook an intensive five-day mechatronics training course run by Festo. The main aim of the course was to prepare them for the EuroSkills international competition, in which they will be putting their skills to the test in the field of mechatronics.

The training programme focused primarily on practical skills applicable in industrial automation. Students worked on programming Siemens PLCs in the TIA Portal environment, electric drives, industrial networks and IO-Link technology. The training also included setting up servo drives and their functions. There was no shortage of practical advice and insights from experts, which the students can put to use not only in the competition, but also in their further studies and future professional careers.

The five days in Ostrava not only provided the students with new specialist knowledge and the opportunity to hone their practical skills, but also valuable experience within the Festo organisation. Alongside the demanding programme, they also found time to explore Ostrava, its history and places of interest.

We hope that Filip and Lukáš will make the most of the experience they have gained in their further preparations and, above all, at the EuroSkills competition itself.
