Twenty-one students took part in the competition, having decided to try their hand at an unconventional sporting discipline combining strength, rhythm, cooperation and team spirit. The team captain and supervising teacher was Mgr. Radek Mach.
The whole event took place in a calm and friendly atmosphere. After the introductory briefing and the first training session, the crew set off on their first race. Their performance was spirited and enthusiastic, although they weren’t quite in sync yet. Nevertheless, it was enough for the school to take first place in the race.
Before the second run, the crew held a brief discussion, reorganised their positions in the boat more effectively and refined their tactics. As it later turned out, this was a very wise move. With each subsequent race, the students improved; their teamwork became more confident and their performance increasingly impressive.
Ultimately, this meant that our school won the entire competition and qualified for the Czech Republic Championships, which will take place in September.
All the students who took part deserve great praise for their dedication, teamwork and positive attitude, despite the rather unfavourable weather. We are confident that the crew will put the experience gained in this race to good use at the Czech Republic Championships as well.
