PhDr. Kateřina Marková first discussed facts about the EU in the classroom - e.g. its share in world GDP, financial issues and EU aid, etc. She then defined terms such as free trade area, customs union, internal market, economic and monetary union and political union. Students also learned about the distribution of seats in the European Parliament and the position of the Czech Republic within the EU.
Part of the lecture was devoted to the myths that circulate around the EU, such as the regulation of the shape of bananas, cucumbers, regulation for hairdressers, etc. In this context, the lecturer also explained to the students why spreadable butter or rum was banned and how it was actually the case with the ban on Czech "zabijačka".
