PhDr. Marková began by introducing the pupils to the Eurocentre’s activities to date, as well as the website eurodesk.cz, which was previously unknown to most of the students. She then provided information on the structure of the EU, its Member States, the history of the EU, its enlargement and its current form, and also described the activities of the European Union’s institutions. The short lecture was followed by a Kahoot game, in which the Year 3 EE pupils performed brilliantly on most questions, whilst on others they learnt something new.
In the end, PhDr. Marková introduced projects such as youth exchanges, Erasmus+, DiscoverEU, European Solidarity Corps, etc., thanks to which pupils can travel abroad - whether they want to work, study, help or simply gain experience by meeting young people of a similar age.
The students found the information about the DiscoverEU project particularly interesting; this is an initiative under the Erasmus+ programme which currently offers 18-year-old students the opportunity to travel around Europe for one month free of charge, provided they submit an application, complete a quiz and are successful.
Thank you for the enlightening lecture and for our past collaboration with Eurocentrum České Budějovice.
