Lecture by the Police of the Czech Republic for 3rd graders - Driving a car and motorcycle: alcohol and drugs behind the wheel

On 2 April 2024, as part of the prevention activities, a lecture on the dangers of the influence of addictive substances for drivers of vehicles was held by Lt. Bc. Milan Bajcura. The event was intended for all 3rd grade classes.

Students were informed about the legal measures concerning driving and alcohol/drug use, and they also learned about the main causes of traffic accidents. The lecturer also covered a description of the most serious road accidents from 2022 and 2023, as well as topics such as unstable quad bikes and the issue of talking on the phone while driving.

Subsequently, Lt. Bc. Bajcura dealt with the influence of addictive substances on the psychological, physical and personality side of a person and the influence of substance use on the development of aggressive behaviour and the consequences of aggression behind the wheel. The aim was to make students realise that aggression behind the wheel really does not belong. The lecturer illustrated everything with concrete examples from the environment of South Bohemia, we also saw several authentic photos from real South Bohemian traffic accidents. We watched 2 videos from the Besipky project, we were reminded of the existence of TV spots You don't think - you pay and the website www.13minut.cz. Finally, one volunteer tried to "blow up a balloon" and found out that it is not easy at all.The students were also advised to ensure that they were completely sober at the wheel and to be aware that alcohol withdrawal time depends on many factors, such as the gender and physical constitution of the driver.

The topic was very topical and interesting for the students. Bajcuru had many questions. We would like to thank the Police of the Czech Republic for their cooperation and we are looking forward to the next lectures we have planned for this school year.
