The lecture of Mrs. Ing. Dana Drábová, Ph.D. (30 January 2024)

On 30 January 2024, a discussion with Mrs. Ing. Dana Drábová, Ph.D., Chairman of the State Office for Nuclear Safety. The lecture was organized in cooperation with ČEZ, a. s., and was attended by students of classes 3.EA, 3.EB and 3 of the České Budějovice grammar schools.

Mrs. Ing. Dana Drábová, Ph.D., prepared a presentation for the pupils entitled "The World, Europe and Nuclear Energy", in which she justified with professional arguments the importance of nuclear energy for various production sources in our country (if we want to maintain the current standard of living, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants and remain independent from imports of energy raw materials). In her comparison of different electricity generation technologies, she included not only the operating costs and negative environmental impacts of generation, but also the investment costs, energy intensity and negative environmental impacts that accompany the actual construction of the energy source.

Thanks to the presentation, the students were able to verify once again that if they successfully graduate in a field focused on nuclear energy (which will be further developed in the Czech Republic in the future), they will have no shortage of jobs on the labour market. Finally, the students were invited by representatives of ČEZ, a. s., to the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant to take the Nuclear Baccalaureate.
