Lecture by Ing. Václav Havlíček
On Friday 29 March 2019, the 3rd EB and 4th EB classes attended a lecture by Ing. Václav Havlíček, head of the reactor unit of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant.
The lecture started with a general introduction to the plant, then the topic of the technical aspects of the plant came up, whether it was the reactor itself, the steam generator, the condenser or the blades of the low pressure turbine, with which there have been problems recently. The subject of safety and spent fuel storage was also discussed. In the context of safety, the Chernobyl and Fukushima accidents were recalled. At the very end of the lecture, it was discussed whether to expand the Temelín and Dukovany nuclear power plants or to invest more in renewable sources.
