In the first match, the lot assigned us Bishop's Grammar School J. N. Neumann. In a game played for 30 minutes we took the lead 2:0 in the first inning. In the next part of the game BIGY reduced the score to 2:1. In the third inning, our students came out on the attack and with flawless play at bat, they scored 5 runs in a row and increased their lead to 7-1. The last inning did not bring a reversal and we won the opening game 7:1.
After a one-match break, we had a clash with the Secondary Medical School, České Budějovice. During the first inning both teams got two points each. In the following acts, the nervousness on both sides was visible, as this game was about the dream promotion to the Czech championship of secondary schools. Our players missed two scoring chances, when they had the opportunity to score with the crowded bases, but did not get the desired point. They managed to change that only in the last act, when they managed to turn the result to their side with three points in a row. The final score was 5:2. This result already assured us of qualification to the final tournament of the Czech Republic, but the boys were not going to be satisfied with it and entered the final match with the determination to win the whole regional round.
In the last match we played against the undefeated team of Gymnasium Trhové Sviny. It was obvious that our players left the nervousness from the previous matches behind and step by step took the reins of the match. The result 7:0 already speaks for itself.
In a strong competition of South Bohemian high schools we managed to advance to the final tournament of high school leagues, which will be held in Kostelec nad Orlicí. Together with PE teachers Mgr. Radek Mach and Mgr. Tomáš Bicano we praise our "cog 14", thank you for the exemplary representation of the school and wish you good luck in the finals!
