Looking back at the Olympics in English

This school year, our pupils once again took part in the English Language Olympiad, which traditionally tests not only their language skills but also their ability to react quickly in speaking.

The school round was held on 14 January 2026 and a total of 8 pupils took part. The competitors measured their skills in different language disciplines - from working with language to independent speaking. The performances were very even and it was clear that the students had a genuine interest in English.

The two best pupils - Matěj Johanus and Viktor Kamenický - advanced to the district round. The district round of the English Language Olympiad for Secondary Schools took place on 17 February 2026 at the House of Children and Youth in České Budějovice and was attended by a total of 19 competitors.

In a strong competition our students did very well. Matěj Johanus took 10th-11th place with 96 points and Viktor Kamenický took 15th-16th place with 80 points. The competition was challenging and included several parts - from Use of English to the introductory interview to the independent and paired speaking.

We would like to thank all the participating pupils for representing the school and congratulate them on their achievements. We also appreciate their courage to perform in English in front of a professional jury and to compete with other talented students.

We are looking forward to the next year and we believe that the interest in the English language will continue to grow among our pupils.
