The new school year: the school’s objectives

At the start of every school year, schools set their priority objectives, and our school is no exception. Objectives are set for the school as a whole, as well as for teaching teams and individual staff members.

The main objective of SPŠ SE remains to prepare pupils not only for their school-leaving exams or further study, but above all for their future lives and careers in the field; we will therefore support collaboration between teachers and businesses, as well as the further training of teachers. As for our pupils, we aim to focus on developing their competences and skills not only for further education, but also for their future careers.

We are starting the new school year with 434 pupils, which is the highest number in the last twenty years. We greatly appreciate this level of interest, which is driving us towards new goals.  One of our main priorities is therefore the induction period for Year 1 pupils. During the first few days, pupils will focus, amongst other things, on basic maths skills and reading literacy. The aim is not to rectify any potential shortcomings within a few hours, but to familiarise new pupils with the school’s requirements, identify any areas of weakness at an early stage and offer them support.

The school’s other objectives include making lessons more engaging, mutual classroom observation and listening sessions amongst teaching staff, and greater sharing of experiences directly within the teaching staff. A simple rule could serve as the common motto for the new school year: to devote our energy to what really matters, rather than merely fulfilling formal duties.

We are confident that we will gradually achieve the objectives we have set over the course of the school year and that these will lead to further improvements in the quality of teaching and the school environment.
