Visit to LOXONE

It is an extensive system of an Austrian company, which has a branch in České Budějovice. At the beginning of the course students visit the show room directly at the company's branch. This is important, especially for the students to get an overview of all the possibilities of the system and to see its functionality practically. This visit helps them a lot in programming the different blocks. The scope of the entire LOXONE system is enormous. With the help of the system's miniserver it is possible to control all the technical processes of a modern house. These include control and management of lighting, heating, ventilation, shading, access control, pool control, solar power plant control, energy metering and home security. During the course, students program the individual blocks of the system. These are mainly basic lighting blocks with modern LED lighting, including light color scenes. Another important block is the control of the heating and cooling of the house by an intelligent controller, which is able to ensure thermal comfort with respect to heating economy. An equally important block that students program is energy metering. By this program it is possible to monitor not only the consumption of electricity but also the consumption of gas, water and basically all the utilities that have a metering sensor. The possibilities of using the LOXONE miniserver are many. From my point of view, working with this system is very interesting for the students and they all achieve excellent results in their lessons. At the end of the lesson each student works on his own project, according to the assignment, which he presents.

This school year we managed to secure a compulsory 14-day internship for students at LOXONE. 4 students participated in the internship. They were very satisfied in the company and received training that the company provides for installation partner companies. They also worked on repairs and upgrades of LOXONE's miniservers. 

Teaching combined with practice is a great asset for graduates' possible decision-making about employment or the direction of further work after graduation. We will continue this activity in the coming years.
