The Minister for Industry, Karel Havlíček, visited our school

On 19 June 2026, the Minister for Industry, Karel Havlíček, visited our school, where he learnt about the ‘Technical Primary School’ project and other activities aimed at supporting polytechnic education. He described the integration of primary and secondary schools in the field of practical technical education as an inspiring example for other schools.

The programme included a demonstration of lessons involving Year 6 pupils from Dukelská Primary School, who were working in the specialist workshops at SPŠ SE as part of their technical subjects. Visitors were able to watch the pupils working with wood and soldering. This hands-on teaching demonstrated that technology can be accessible, creative and naturally linked to practical skills for primary school pupils.

The equipment for the mobile workshop, which is used for the ‘Technical Basics on Wheels’ project, was also presented. Thanks to this project, the school can bring technical activities directly to primary schools in the region, particularly those from which it is more difficult to travel to České Budějovice. The mobile workshop enables pupils to try their hand at a combination of mechanical and electrical engineering activities and to make their own product.

The visit also included a display of work produced during the entrance exams for the Technical Primary School. This year’s practical task involved building a marble run, during which candidates demonstrated their technical thinking, creativity, spatial awareness and ability to find functional solutions.

The meeting also included a discussion attended by the school’s management, representatives of the town and other guests. The main topics were support for technical education, the development of polytechnic education and ways of introducing pupils to technology as early as primary school.

We are delighted that the ‘Technical Primary School’ project and the school’s related activities are attracting attention even beyond the region. They demonstrate that meaningful collaboration between primary and secondary schools can offer pupils practical experience, develop their technical skills and help them with their future study choices.
