The topic of the work was chosen by the students themselves or they could choose from the topics suggested by the teachers. The year's work was compulsory and its evaluation is reflected in the grade of the subject it relates to. During the year, pupils consulted their chosen topic with the supervisor - the teacher of the subject most specialised in the subject. They could consult the formal aspect of the work with the Czech language teachers. The deadline for submission was set for 31 March 2022.
In the field of electrical engineering, a total of 55 students chose the topic from the subjects of physics, fundamentals of electrical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, information technology, electronics and practice. The most topics were chosen in the subjects of electronics (16), IT (12) and in the basics of electrical engineering (10). The work resulted not only in the product itself, but also in the technical documentation for the project, which includes a cover sheet, a theoretical introduction, wiring drawings, a description of the work process and photographs. Finally, there is an evaluation of the work and a list of the sources from which it was drawn.
In the field of mechanical engineering, 50 students chose the topic, specifically from the subjects of mechanics, construction and operation of machines, engineering technology, computer aided design and information technology. Most of the topics were selected from computer aided design (15) and practice (also 15), followed by machine construction and operation (9), engineering technology (7) and information technology (3). One student selected a topic from mechanics. The year's work had to include not only calculations and drawings, but also a title page, a list of the symbols used and their explanation, a theoretical introduction that introduced the topic and outlined the design options. At the end of the thesis, the sources used to solve the problem were again listed. Another requirement was that, if possible, the thesis should also contain some tangible output, a product.
From the submitted works, the supervisors selected seven of them (both in the field of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering), which they considered to be the most successful. The fourteen best students then presented their work and products at a meeting with representatives of several South Bohemian companies on 18 May 2022. All the works were judged by the committee to be very successful, but even so, three works (from each field) were selected as the best in terms of presentation.
In the field of electrical engineering these are:
- Simulation of mine water extraction (Matyáš Machala, 2.EA),
- Weather station (Martin Pavlík, 2.EB),
- 3D print - plotter (Vojtěch Škopek, 2.EB).
They succeeded in the field of engineering:
- Design and production of a reverse hammer (Pavlína Koubová, 2.SA),
- Design and production of a box with a lid (Tomáš Křiváček, 2.SA),
- Design, calculation, drawing and manufacture of the pin of the crane suspension hook (Jakub Litvan, 2.SB).
All selected pupils received gifts from the headmaster. The year's work met our expectations and we have decided to continue it next school year.
