Two teams took part in the competition - the first one consisted of pupils from class 2.EB (Denis Majrich, Matěj Kopeček, Radim Barták, Miroslav Sojka and Jan Steringa), the second one was represented by pupils from 3.EA (Ondřej Lounek, Vojtěch Kodat, Martin Pavlík, Jan Konzal and Jakub Luxa). These five-member teams chose one of the offered complex topics to solve and worked non-stop over the next 24 hours to ensure that their final work impressed the jury and took home one of the financial and technical prizes. Both teams worked around the clock throughout (with only occasional breaks for refreshments). Only some dared to close their eyes for a few minutes.
At our first Hackathon, a team from class 3.EA, which designed a prototype web application mapping different expressions for the same words across the country, won a beautiful 2nd place and took home a prize of CZK 5,000 and technical equipment for all team members. The second team, although not placed in the top three positions, won the admiration of most of the organizers, who repeatedly praised our students' skills and choice of very complex problem-solving technologies during both days. Both teams made a tremendous effort and some of the members even learned and then went straight into using programming languages and other technologies they had never worked with before during the night.
Congratulations to all participating students for their success and thank you for the excellent representation of our school!
