Jihostroj, a.s., is one of the most important engineering companies in the South Bohemia Region. The company focuses on the production of precision machine parts for the aerospace industry and the production of pumps, with approximately 40 % products exported.
At the beginning, students were introduced to the company's activities through a presentation. The guide emphasized the importance of English language skills, working with design programs and CNC machine programming, which are key to employment in modern engineering production.
Then the students visited the quality control workplace, where they got acquainted with the instruments for measuring and verifying the accuracy of production. Then they moved to the production halls where they could observe the entire process of gear pump production - from the machining of individual parts to the final assembly and shipment.
Particular attention was paid to work on CNC machines, where one worker operates several devices at the same time, as well as the operation of conventional machine tools. Thanks to the fact that most of the machines were running, students could observe real production processes, especially in the production of gears.
Although the excursion was planned for two hours, thanks to the great interest of the students it was extended by another half an hour. The students rated it as very beneficial - especially because they could verify their knowledge from the subject of engineering technology and see its practical application with their own eyes.
