The students gradually toured the various parts of the plant - from the fuel storage through the water treatment plant for steam boilers to the boiler rooms themselves, where they had the opportunity to see the biomass, coal and gas combustion equipment. They were also interested in the fuel conveyors that move the fuel to the boilers.
The excursion also included a visit to the engine room with steam turbines, where electricity is produced, as well as the transformation station and the hot water and steam distribution room. This gave the students a comprehensive overview of the whole process of energy production and distribution.
Another great benefit was the connection with work experience - students were introduced to the possibility of future employment directly in the heating plant, including information on entry conditions.
The excursion confirmed the importance of such activities for vocational education, as they allow students to better understand the material discussed in a real environment.
