Excursion to the Západ substation

In the last week of April, the 4.EB class visited the Západ substation, which has the task of transforming 110 kV to 22 kV and then distributing it in the western part of České Budějovice. The whole substation is designed as unmanned, with only occasional supervision.

The 110 kV substation is of classic outdoor design on a steel truss structure. It is a single busbar system in the shape of the letter H. The transformer station boasts a pair of dominant transformers with a capacity of 25 MVA each. It is equipped with a pair of ZT1 and ZT2 (each with a capacity of 1250 kVAr) extinguishing chokes. Last but not least, the ZR 1 resistor with a value of 42 Ω is part of the unit. The 22 kV substation is of internal design - it was built into a two-storey building as a dungeon substation with two longitudinally divided busbar systems arranged in a U-shaped pattern.

Our guide was Mr. Miroslav Janát, who very knowledgeably answered the questions of our students and described in detail all parts of the substation.
