Energy literacy: you can't do without electricity

On 19 February 2020, a lecture on "Energy Literacy: you can't do without electricity" was held.

Ing. Štěpán Zelman from the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant discussed with the students the development of the energy sector in a historical context - from medieval water and wind mills, through the Industrial Revolution and the use of steam energy, through the beginnings of electrification, when the advantage of electricity in its easy transport even to remote places came into full play, to the contemporary energy mix and its integration into the electricity grid. He informed the students that the electricity grid can only function properly if the electricity consumed and produced is in balance and if there is a drop in consumption, it is necessary to reduce production, otherwise there is a risk of blackout. The purpose of the lecture was to reach potential students and to stimulate their interest in studying electricity.
