We travelled to Pilsen by train. Since we were sitting for two hours, we went on our first journey around Pilsen on foot. After 4 km we arrived at the company BRUSH SEM, s. r. o., which is dedicated to the production and service of high power electric generators. We were divided into two groups, so we could see everything thoroughly. It was also interesting to see that in a 6-hour shift you are always doing the same job. After this excursion we had a tour of the brewery, where we moved by Pilsen public transport.
A tour of Pilsner Urquell is a really great experience. In addition to the information from the guide, you see several videos, you take a bus around the premises to the bottling plant, you are taken in a passenger elevator for 72 people, you visit the old and new brewery, you are taken to the cellars and you see the old "ice" for ice. After this experience, we walked around the market square, had dinner and headed to the college dorms where we had booked accommodation.
On Thursday we had to wake up early, because at 8 am we had another excursion - this time in the company ETD TRANSFORMÁTORY, a. s. Here they focus on the production and sale of power transformers, starting reactors, chokes and transformers for electric traction and vehicles. We saw the process from the production of the coils to the final transformer, including the testing of the transformer.
The last excursion was just a few metres away at ŠKODA ELECTRIC, a. s. Here we were shown the production of electric drives, power supplies and motors for trolleybuses, trams and other similar vehicles. We were surprised by the number of employees here, but also by the number of apprentices in training. We went back to České Budějovice again by train. All the excursions were rated by the students as interesting and very beneficial.
