The excursion was called "Winter School TR Kočín - ČEPS" and it was indeed a full-fledged educational program prepared by ČEPS including lectures and a guided tour of the indoor and outdoor areas of the substation.
The programme very appropriately complemented the teaching of the topic Electric Power Stations in the subject Electric Power Engineering in the 4th year with specific examples of the tasks of the transmission system within the electricity system and the specific role played by the 420 kV Kočín substation. The pupils were divided into two groups, each of which received a guided tour of the indoor and outdoor areas of the substation.
Pupils were able to see the dispatcher's workplace of the substation and a simulator used for training dispatchers and other professions, equipped with virtual reality equipment. The tour of the outdoor areas included the supply lines from the Temelín nuclear power plant, the substation itself, the transformer station, the power switch and a demonstration of the extra high voltage tester and earthing switch.
In addition to information about the substation systems, the pupils also learned about the organisation and work tasks of the substation staff, their training and an initial adaptation training course.
