Enrolment in the bone marrow donor register
On 18 April 2023, the registration for the bone marrow donor register took place at SPŠ SE. The event was held as part of the Dukla Helps project and was organized by our teacher Mgr. Radek Mach.
A total of 25 students from our school participated in the project. The head of the Department of Clinical Hematology, MUDr. Jana Vondráková, Ph.D., was herself pleasantly surprised by the large number of students. From her words, it is obvious that new donors are still needed, because overall the number of patients who need bone marrow transplantation is increasing, but at the same time the number of donors is also decreasing, so she was very happy that she could come with her colleagues to SPŠ SE.
So far, this was the first event of this kind in our country, but we will certainly be happy if it becomes a tradition and we will welcome the team from the transfusion department of the Hospital České Budějovice in the years to come.
