Students of the 1st year visited the workplace of the Emergency Department and the Alcohol Rescue Station

The excursions of the students from 1.EE, 1.EM, 1.ER and 1.S were not only preventive in terms of preventing risky behaviour, but also aimed to acquaint the students with the operation of the workplaces, the work of rescuers and reminding them of the basic principles of first aid.

The whole event was very positively evaluated by both the teachers and the students themselves. Head of the Education and Training Centre of the ZZS JčK, Bc. Michal Rozum., DiS., MBA, as well as other staff of the ZZS and PZS managed to impress our students and teachers very much. Professional issues of resuscitation and other topics were presented in a way understandable even for laymen in this field. The students also had the opportunity to listen to, for example, an authentic recording of a telephone call from the scene of an accident, which was an interesting and enlightening experience for many of them, especially when it was complemented by the expert commentary of a qualified staff member of the Emergency Medical Services.

Pupils had many questions during the event, they were very interested in the ambulance equipment, they also got the opportunity to try out the transport bed and loading into the ambulance. One of the accompanying class teachers, Ing. Vilém Čejka, in addition to all of the above, also appreciated the current knowledge regarding first aid, which he will be able to subsequently incorporate into his own first aid safety training in the laboratory, which he regularly guides his students through.

The visit to the Alcohol Detention Centre was also very interesting for many students, but we hope that it was not only the first time, but also the last time that our pupils will be there. Regarding prevention, many of the participants were also surprised by the information regarding the combination of alcohol and energy drinks and the possible consequences.

We would like to thank Mr Rozum and all the other staff of the ZZS for this valuable experience, attitude, understanding and willingness to pass on a lot to our students.
