As the name suggests, the main topic was pneumatics, linear actuators and related control systems. The organizer and sponsor was SMC (SMC Industrial Automation CZ, s. r. o., SMC Priemyselná automatizácia, spol. s r. o.), which operates globally. The competition was held jointly for the Czech Republic and Slovakia and consisted of three regional rounds.
Our school participated in the round in Prague together with 17 other teams. The total participation in the competition was 54 teams. The competition consisted of two separate parts. The first focused on programming a pneumatic manipulator, while the second consisted of a set of several assignments on pneumatics and electro-pneumatics (including a knowledge test). The assignments were made up of elements that are used in professional practice.
In the programming discipline, our school took first place in the regional round and second place overall. In the pneumatic problems we were ninth, seventeenth overall.
The organizer provided perfect organization, accompanying program and refreshments. All SMC employees ensured the course of the competition with great commitment, willingness and professional erudition. The fact that SMC attaches great importance to the competition was demonstrated by the presence of the CEO for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Congratulations to all the participants (Vojtěch Kodat and Martin Pavlík, 3.EA; David Kodada, 4.EB) for the beautiful placement and thank you for representing our school!
