The Republic round of the competition was held in the conference hall of the AquaPalace Hotel Čestlice. At 8:30 a.m. the expert jury started the time countdown and the three-hour marathon began. The task of the day was to assemble a working model of a wind power plant with a Watt centrifugal controller from the Merkur kit, which triggers the production of energy in the second part, i.e. in the pumped storage power plant, whose model we also built, in case of insufficient wind. New to the competition this year, in addition to the immediate performance during assembly, the competition also took into account the home preparation involved in programming the Arduino microcontroller that controlled the lighting of both power plants and 3D printing the parts needed to attach the non-contact sensor to Watt's controller.
Our students - Radim Barták, Matěj Kopeček and Denis Majrich (pupils of 2.EB) - and pupils of Dukelská Primary School - Adam Koubek, Vanesa Nováková and Šimon Štorek - did very well. Congratulations to the whole team for the excellent 2nd place!
