We took the train from České Budějovice to Prague and upon arrival we took the tram to Prague Castle, where we walked the traditional route (St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica and the picturesque Golden Lane). There was also a short stop in the South Gardens, where we had a view of Prague, which this time was cloudy. Then we went down Nerudova Street to Malostranské náměstí and continued with a stop on Charles Bridge to the Old Town side of Prague.
For the second part of the excursion we went to Vítkov by public transport bus. On Wednesday, the 3rd EM class went up to the memorial, visited the grave of the unknown soldier and ran to the statue of Jan Žižka. Then the pupils went to the Army Museum, which was also visited by the 3rd ER class on Thursday. The Army Museum has been newly opened for a couple of years and we were able to see interesting exhibitions mapping military history. We focused on the history of the First World War, which the pupils will use in future literature lessons with a First World War theme. Next we looked at exhibitions up to the present day.
We ended our journey to the station by the back entrance, so we also explored a lesser known part of the area. After three o'clock we took the train back to České Budějovice.
