Slovenia - NP Triglav

On Sunday, September 8, 2019, we drove through Austria (just a short stop at Golling wasserfall) to the town of Ukanc on Lake Bohinj.

It poured and poured so hard that we almost didn't get to our little house OB SAVICI.

On Monday we went to explore the eastern shore of the lake - the tourist town of Ribčev Laz and Stara Fužina, the gorge of the Mostnica stream and the Hudičev bridge. After a short stop for lunch, we went to the cemetery of the fallen in World War I and then climbed to the highest Slovenian waterfall, Savica. Along the way we thought of the soldiers who fought here in World War I. It rained a bit, but our reward for wandering in the rain was a beautiful rainbow and a waterfall full of water falling from a height of 78m into a bright green pool.

On Tuesday we first admired the professionalism of our driver in the narrow serpentine roads and then we wandered on the Pokljuka plateau, saw pastures, cows, horses and donkeys, also a nature trail around the peat bog and picked mushrooms for dinner. We continued on to a resort famous for hosting biathlon races and were lucky enough to admire the Kugar, a military airbus-type helicopter worth just under $20 million, on the helipad. In the afternoon we explored the town of Bohinjska Bystrica. We really enjoyed the Tomaž Godec Museum. One entire floor was dedicated to the twelve bloody battles on the Sochi River.

On Wednesday, we took a cable car up to Lake Bohinj. The weather was great, the views were breathtaking. We also had a good look at Mount Triglav - 2864 m above sea level.

Some of them conquered the highest peak Vogel - 1922 m above sea level, others Shija 1880 m above sea level. Almost all of them had lunch in the restaurant on the top of Orlova Glava, where they served local specialties: ričet, soup with smoked meat and groats, very good jota - cabbage, goulash with special dumplings and also strudel. With apples or with apples and cottage cheese. After returning to our little house, a few brave people swam in Lake Bohinj and in the evening we had a barbecue. Not only meat, but also fish and cheese and vegetables.

On Thursday, we walked through the very photogenic Vintgar Gorge on the Radovna River and returned to the bus via the Church of St. Katherine above the village of Zasip and Hom Hill. In the afternoon we visited the Bled Castle - we arrived almost exactly on time for the performance of "Little Tony" and then we enjoyed the beautiful town and the lake with thermal springs, each according to his own interest.

We spent the last evening at the chocolate fountain with fruit.

In the morning we packed everything, handed over the keys and started our return journey. We stopped in Kranjska Gora - the venue of many winter world cups. We briefly stretched our legs in the Zelenci National Park - beautiful emerald pools created by the underground spring Nadiza.

In the evening we returned to our school full of experiences and we are looking forward to the next trip.
