The Technical Olympiad is a competition designed for those primary school pupils who enjoy technology. Through simple tasks we want to show that technology is interesting, meaningful and allows self-realization. The aim of this competition is to make your own machine. Each task has a simple assignment and it is up to the contestants how they solve it. The best solvers will advance to the regional round and all those who submit their solutions and apply to our school will receive extra points in the admissions process.
We cooperate with Department of Applied Physics and Technology University of South Bohemia and supports us and South Bohemia region a CEZ Group.
This year's basic round again focused on practical skills and creativity of the competitors. Participants were tasked with building a working model of a sorting line that can differentiate between different materials such as metal, paper and aluminium. They were provided with a basic set of components, including a motor, battery holders, an LED with a resistor and other components to use in the construction of their device. After the evaluation, the top 10 students advanced to the regional round, where they solved further technical tasks on the spot (see next article).
The competition emphasizes originality, technical execution and presentation skills. The best solvers were awarded and their work will inspire future editions.
