Students Jakub Štifter (3.EE) and Vojtěch Šišpela (3.ER) worked on electrical installations in the company Electromontajes Ayuso. Václav Mydlil (3.EE), Vojtěch Moudrý (3.EM), Lukáš Brunclík (3.ER) and Liliana Kotašková (3.EM) completed their internship at the E-Tron electric scooter repair shop. Marek Buřič (3.ER) and Jan Prim (3.S) were at Lifes Camper, where they manufactured and installed equipment for motorhomes. Kateřina Kubičková (3.S), Matyáš Novák (3.S) and Vladimír Jiřík (3.S) went under the hood of buses and other vehicles at Leiva Bus. Štěpán Mikeš (3.S) and Jiří Siegelbauer (3.ER) were then placed separately in companies - Štěpán worked in the Llantacars car service, where he gained experience in servicing wheels, tyres and adjusting the geometry of (often luxury) cars. Jiří then worked for Servihonda SL, preparing motorbikes for shipment abroad.
The programme also included an exchange of experiences for teachers. Giuseppe Quagliata spent his first week with us in Málaga, undertaking a series of listening sessions for different language levels at the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Málaga, a state language school. My colleague Jiri Vastl then took over the baton the following week, shadowing at E-Tron. He also visited the Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria La Rosaleda secondary school, where the teachers there gave him an overview of the structure of the Spanish education system and gave him a tour of the school's vast campus.
During the week, students commuted to work, where their mentors introduced them to the workings of companies. They then spent their free time swimming in the sea and exploring Andalusia - exploring the centre of Malaga, visiting the village of Frigiliana, the cave system at Nerja, the Gibralfaro fortress and the Alcazaba viewpoint in Malaga. Perhaps the most interesting was a day trip to historic Gibraltar, where students fought their way through snack-eating monkeys to the Rock of Gibraltar lookout and explored the old military buildings scattered throughout the area.
Erasmus mobility programmes, with their emphasis on work experience, are an invaluable opportunity for students to gain work experience, improve their language skills and learn about other cultures. The internship was funded by Erasmus+, allowing students to have their expenses fully covered. The work experience will not only serve them in their job search but also as a valuable record in their Europass
