Slowpitch Czech Championship - Kostelec nad Orlicí (14-15 June 2023)

The final tournament of the SHS slowpitch championship took place on 14-15 June 2023 in Kostelec nad Orlicí. Our school was represented by the following pupils: Jakub Čermák, Hubert Havel, Richard Kadlec, Tomáš Kučera, Matěj Stöhr, Petr Winzig (2.EA); Jáchym Cirhan (2.EB), Václav Schneider (2.SA) and Ondřej Humpolec (3.SB). As a pedagogical supervisor was present Mgr. Radek Mach.

The first denturnay our school played three matches in the group. The first match was against the traditional rival from Gymnasium Trhové Sviny and we won it 11:9. The second match was against Gymnasium Postupická Praha. This match was very even and we lost in the end in overtime 3:2. The last match of the group was played against the home team of SZeŠ and SOU CHKT Kostelec nad Orlicí (Secondary Agricultural School and Secondary Vocational School of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology). The opponent from the beginning showed precise and flawless game and did not give us a chance to win. The final score was 11:1 for the home team.

The playoffs were played the next day. In the quarterfinals we faced the favorite of the whole tournament. Gymnázium Chomutov confirmed their assumptions and smoothly passed us to the semifinals. The final score was 10:0. In the last match for the placement we again faced Gymnasium Trhové Sviny, which returned the defeat from the first match this time. In the end, in the competition of all secondary schools in the country we took the 6th place. It was a pity that our softball players could not attend the event, as they had to give priority to the national meeting. With their help, we could have thought about higher ranks.
