Lecture: small modular reactors
On Tuesday, 25.2.2025, pupils of 3.ER , 3.S and 3.EE attended a lecture on SMALL MODULAR REACTORS, AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CZECH REPUBLIC organized by CEZ in partnership with our school.
The lecturer was Ing. Jan Hejný, Head of the CEZ Group SMR Technician Department. During the lecture, the students could learn about the current plan of ČEZ to build a small modular reactor at the Temelín power plant. The lecturer informed the pupils about the current energy mix of the Czech Republic, its further development and the need to build new emission-free sources to ensure the balance of electricity production and consumption in the Czech Republic. Considering the geographical situation in our country, CEZ sees the future of generation sources in a combination of solar and wind power plants, nuclear power plants and natural gas-fired power plants.
