We had our own booth in the Indie Showcase section, where we presented our game "In Kashi". The game features four story lines in which a student character gets into various debt traps and tries to get out of them. Each story can end either with a good or a bad ending, overall the game is very informative as it shows how important good decisions and financial literacy are.
We had the opportunity to see dozens of other student and professional games, talk to their authors and get inspiration and valuable feedback. There was no shortage of original game mechanics, stunning visuals and technical gadgets. It was great to see how far you can go with determination, ideas and a team.
We also spent a large part of the day at lectures and workshops, where developers, graphic designers, managers and other representatives from renowned studios such as Bohemia Interactive, CD Projekt RED, Warhorse Studios and Amanita Design spoke. We learned what game development looks like "behind the curtain", how to work with a game's story, what it means to be a level designer and why feedback from players is important. This year's lectures were definitely dominated by the topic of artificial intelligence and its use in development.
In the evening, we attended informal meetings held during the conference, where we could talk with other developers, students and people from the industry in a relaxed atmosphere. It was here that the most valuable advice was often dropped and contacts were made that could be crucial in the future.
