It is uninvited, unwelcome, but necessary, and we must tackle it together so that it does minimal damage to the form and level of education. On the Internet you can find various expert guides on how to deal with distance learning (e.g. https://nadalku.msmt.cz/cs). I have chosen the common sense route and summarized some tips on how to better manage this new form of learning. Please, all colleagues and students, if you have your own ideas and advice on distance learning, write to me and I will be happy to add your recommendations.
- Distinguish between work and weekend (or holiday) day routines. Monday to Friday, wake up in time to be ready for school work. Stay focused on your online classes and assignments, don't get distracted from your work. Divide your work day into work time and free time.
- Resolve any technical problem immediately. If your computer crashes, Teams or school emails don't work, contact your class teacher or Ing. Růžička. Together we will try to solve the problem.
- If you are ill or otherwise unable to participate in distance learning, so tell the teachers in time to avoid problems.
- Sign up for the online class at least 5 minutes before it startsso that it can fully begin at the given time. It is a good idea to keep the microphone off during the lesson and only turn it on when you are communicating.
- Don't wait until the last minute for tests and assignments in Teams. The work should be submitted a few minutes earlier than the deadline time. Otherwise, your work may not be submitted and you have tried in vain.
- Communicate with the class. Keep in touch with your class, even if remotely.
- Communicate with teachers. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand the material, use chat or emails for this situation, ask directly during the online classes.
- Create your own task calendar. Write down the tasks you need to complete for each day and tick off the completed tasks. It's a great relief when you find that you have completed the day.
- Print out all the electronically submitted documents and put them in the appropriate notebooks. Especially for technical subjects, this is very important. You can only add notes to the submitted text later.
- Keep moving. And even if you are forced to stay inside the apartment - plan any form of exercise.
- Go out, but not among the people. If you can just, go for a walk, but not with a bunch of friends, try to go alone or just with those closest to you, with your family.
- Keep your feet on the ground. Don't get caught up in the world of catastrophic scenarios, be here and now, deal with things (and school, homework) as they come, step by step, gradually.
- Dose yourself with information. Don't read everything on a social network, don't watch every new video, put a limit on how many times you watch the news;
- Don't lose your humour - Humour heals - put on a good comedy;
- Reward yourself. Treat yourself to what you like and what makes you feel good - a hot bath, a good meal, listening to your favourite music, an episode of your favourite show - anything you know works reliably for you.
