Nuclear Baccalaureate 2023 (19-21 April 2023)

Six students of the 3rd year of electrical engineering (Ondřej Lounek from the 3rd EA class; Jan Čada, Ondřej Kříž, Jiří Kundrát, Matyáš Machala and Bohumil Snopek from the 3rd EB class) took part in the first run of the Nuclear Baccalaureate 2023 event on 19-21 April 2023.

The event took place on the premises of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant. On the first day, lectures on various topics related to nuclear energy were scheduled - e.g. primary and secondary part of Temelín NPP, nuclear safety or nuclear reactor theory. The lecturers included Ing. Borovka, Ing. Marek, Ing. Voška and Ing. Pancíř.

The following day, we toured the production block and the information centre, which is located in the Vysoký Hrádek Chateau. The pupils saw the premises of the machine room of the production block and the cooling tower. Due to the ongoing shutdown of one of the units, it was very busy. The pupils also visited the training centre and the shelter and at the end of the day they listened to a lecture by Mr. Ing. Sivek and Ing. Havlíček.

On the last day, a nuclear energy knowledge test competition was held, where it was possible to compare knowledge with other students from all over the country. This was followed by a lecture by Ing. Šimák, after which the whole event ended with the announcement of the King of the Nuclear Baccalaureate.
