Photovoltaics on the school roof: a step towards savings and sustainability

At the beginning of December 2025, a photovoltaic power plant was installed on the roof of the school building at the Secondary Technical School of Electrical Engineering in České Budějovice as part of the extension of specialised classrooms.

Twenty photovoltaic panels with a total area of approximately 40 m² were installed on the roof. The panels are mounted on structures with a slope of 10–15°, which corresponds to the standard solution for flat roofs.

Since its commissioning, the photovoltaic power plant has been used not only to cover part of the school's electricity consumption and reduce operating costs, but also as a practical teaching aid in vocational education focused on energy and renewable sources. The project has thus brought the school a double benefit – economic and educational – and has become an example of the meaningful integration of modern technologies with teaching and the sustainable operation of an educational institution.

The project was financed by ČEZ, a company with which the school has a long-standing partnership.
