The tour started at the castle, where students watched an educational video and heard basic information about Temelín. Afterwards, the class was divided into 3-4 groups each time, students were given helmets and identification cards with the inscription "Excursion".
On entering JET, everyone had to pass through a controlled zone (metal detection frame, radioactivity measurement frame, one student in the group was tested for alcohol).
The groups gradually toured the four cooling towers and the engine room on the 3rd floor, which they reached via a long bridge. The engine room was very warm and noisy as it was in operation at the time of the excursion. There was a huge turbine generator and three huge condensers that looked like huge vaults at first glance. Then it was out.
Outside you could see the stacks from the diesel generator buildings. On the way back to the controls, the students were warned of the yellow lines that no one was allowed to cross, otherwise the emergency services would have to intervene as the part that only authorised persons were allowed to enter would be disturbed. Subsequently, the students again went through the control. In the next building there was a block supervision training room, which is used to train new staff. Some classes also visited the Temelin canteen. The last stop was again at the mansion, where the guides played a presentation, finished giving more information and started an online tour of the controlled area at the reactor.
The excursion was interesting and informative.
