Excursions - Temelín Information Centre and Hněvkovice Water Reservoir

On 14 February 2025, the 4.EA class went on a professional excursion focused on energy and water management. The aim of the trip was the Information Centre of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant, a visit to the unit supervision simulator and a tour of the Hněvkovice water reservoir, which serves as a source of operating water for the plant.

Temelín Information Centre
Our excursion started at the Temelín Information Centre, where we expanded our knowledge about the operation of the nuclear power plant. We learned about the history of the plant, the principle of electricity production from nuclear fuel and safety measures.

Block Supervision Simulator
The next stop was the unit control room simulator, which faithfully replicates the actual control centre of a nuclear power plant. Here we could see how the plant is controlled and learn how various operational situations are handled.

Water reservoir Hněvkovice
After visiting Temelín, we moved to the Hněvkovice reservoir, which supplies the plant with operating water. The programme included a tour of the pumping station, where we learned more about pumping water and its use in the cooling system of the power plant. In addition to technical information, we also learned about the importance of the reservoir for the surrounding ecosystem and flood protection.

The excursion was very beneficial and allowed us to better understand the functioning of one of the most important energy sources in the Czech Republic. Thank you to everyone who participated in its organization!

A SIMILAR EXCURSION was also completed by classes 4.SB (10. 2. 2025) and 4.EB (13. 2. 2025)
