First of all, we would like to thank ČEPS, a. s., especially Mr. Karel Čížkov and Mr. Jan Novotný and all other colleagues for making the excursion possible and for organizing it. Thanks to them, the excursion was really beneficial for our students. The pupils had the opportunity to watch a video about ČEPS, a. s. and heard a lecture about the transmission system and the role of the Kočín 400/110 kV transformer and its fundamental importance for ensuring a safe supply of electricity for the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant.
We looked at the outdoor and indoor areas of the transformer room. Very interesting was the tour of the hall of the Technical Supervision Centre of the Central Region and the Training and Training Centre (including a simulator for the company's employees).
The tours were accompanied by expert explanations - the functions of the individual fields of the substation and the devices used were explained to us. In the Technical Supervision Centre we got acquainted with the main tasks and duties of the specialists of this centre. The pupils were divided into two groups so that everyone could see and hear as well as possible. The information on how extensive and demanding the adaptation programme for new employees is and what positions are held by employees of ČEPS, a. s. was very valuable. Several graduates of our school work in the substation, so we had the opportunity to hear their personal experiences.
Thanks to a very good organization and a rich program, the excursion exceeded our expectations and helped the pupils to imagine what their future careers in the energy sector might look like.
