Excursion to JETE and Hněvkovice petrol station (4.SA)

Our excursion started at the information centre. Here we had the opportunity to see exhibits dedicated to the principle of nuclear power plant function, ecological issues of its operation and exhibits of models of nuclear reactor, fuel cell construction, steam condenser, etc.

This was followed by a lecture on nuclear energy using a virtual 3D presentation. Interesting was also the demonstration of the so-called fog chamber, which allowed us to realize that there is a lot of different natural radiation around us, which we are not able to perceive with our senses.

Then we took a bus to Hněvkovice, where we had arranged a visit to a petrol station. In the guarded area we went through the engine room where the pumps of technical water were working and we had the opportunity to see the safety equipment eliminating hydrostatic shocks of the pumped water. The excursion ended with a tour of the dam.
